Really annoys me that TeamViewer does not allow connections to a TV 12 host from a TV 11 commercial version client. I paid for TV 11 Business last year and 3 months later TV 12 came out and now if any of my customers install TV 12 or use TV 12 Quicksupport I can no longer connect to them. In some cases they were prompted to update by the TV software which they did, not realizing it would cause a problem for me down the road. Then when they called me for help with something i was unable to connect so i was unable to assist them. And since some of these customers are not savvy enough stepping them thru the process of uninstalling TV 12 and reinstalling TV 11 is a pain in the ass. There is no valid reason to make a previous commercial version of TV incompatible with TV one version newer other than as a money grab. Backward compatibility should remain at least one to two versions back. We manage 50% pre-existing servers 50% random client machines with easy problems to fix.% OSX. The future of Microsoft and Sony appears to be moving towards backwards compatibility due to them finally moving over to x86-64 architecture. With Nintendo, it seems like with every new game system, they try to shake up the control scheme. Sony recently unveiled the new PlayStation Classic; however, some have been quick to point out that this just highlights how PlayStation lacks backward compatibility. Following Nintendo's approach, Sony will be releasing a mini version of their original PlayStation console that first hit store shelves in 1994. I can't tell if it's an improvement) You can't just ask someone for their ID and password, you have to have their login username and password after the ID/pw (unless they enable ask to control, but OSX has that tucked away in a privacy section). With some of the certifiably braindead people we deal with, getting that enabled or getting them to figure out their own username is a problem. *(this was me being an idiot. Quick connect lets you avoid all this) Also I've found occasionally when a server has crashed, teamviewer will still allow some level of control where ARD/VNC/Remotix won't • • • • •.
